We easily fall into old bad habits. It takes effort to recognize them. It takes even more effort to work with them. We need a mental tool chest filled with ways to practice tolerance when encountering anger; ways to practice appreciation instead of jealousy; and ways to practice humility when arrogance arises. Rather than being blown in wind like a dry leaf, we need to be constantly aware. Then our gratitude encompasses everything, even our negative emotions. For transforming negative emotions becomes the key opening the door to happiness, love, and compassion.
