When we become exhausted, we must rest and take a break. Pushing just makes exhaustion worse. Resting when exhausted is taking good care of ourself. It is being gentle and kind to ourself. We tend to neglect taking good care of ourself, even while we take good care of others. Balancing alertness with relaxation is essential in meditation and in life. Being exhausted through overwork and burnout needs relaxation and rest. Too much rest makes us groggy and dull. Too much alertness makes us exhausted. Balance is the key. This is the middle way.
