Dr. Martin Luther King said, “darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” We honor him and his work for equality and justice for all people, on this and all days. He followed in the footsteps of the nonviolent tradition of Gandhi, Jesus, and the Buddha. Light and hope are essential for all beings. Self-respect and trust are the foundations of meaningful just and equitable relations. Each of us has biases. Everyday recognizing these biases and working on letting them go is the practice of a good person, one who aspires to enlightenment to benefit all beings.
