Most of us have not been raised with the motivation of Bodhicitta. Those of us wanting to pursue this Mahayana Buddhist path must familiarize ourselves with Bodhicitta, the wish and action of becoming enlightened to benefit all sentient beings. Familiarization with such a noble path takes time and requires repeated reflection on Bodhicitta. Each morning when we wake up, think about Bodhicitta and refresh your commitment to attain it. Again, refresh your commitment at the end of the day before sleep, and during the day if you can. Of course, it will take a long time to cultivate Bodhicitta, but that doesn’t matter. The more familiar we become with Bodhicitta, the closer we become to actualizing it.
