Having a genuine warm heart is a vast and profound practice. It embodies love and compassion, having sincere concern for the wellbeing of others. Additionally, it involves humility, the opposite of egocentricity. In this way it also harnesses wisdom. As there are so many others besides ourselves, this makes perfect sense. For each one of us, just like me, wants to be happy and not hurt. We get caught up in a narrow perspective assuming I am the only one who wants to be happy. We forget others have the same wish. Widening our perspective, it is obvious that all beings want the same, to be happy and not suffer. This widened perspective is in tune with nature and it is in tune with reality.
