Nov. 19th-23rd
Dr. Barry Kerzin will visit Japan in November 2022! Human Values Institute will have a “Retreat” in Shikoku at this time. “The Shikoku – Inner Pilgrimage: Marriage with our Subtle Mind.” Our last Shikoku retreat was in 2016. Therefore, we are glad to announce this excellent opportunity for another retreat in Shikoku this year!
Once you experience the retreat surrounded by beautiful nature, you will be able to remember these experiences in your daily life after finishing this program and keep practicing what you have learned. Dr. Barry says, “Our journey is not like a stamp rally in that we visit many places in a short number of days. Traveling to many places with a slowed down (outer journey) supports our inner journey. It is worth leaving your busy daily life and observing your mind during this journey.”
Dr. Barry Kerzin will lead an in-person retreat this time. The retreat comprises a combination of lectures and practices. It might be challenging to meditate every day by yourself in your daily life. However, this program will be good support for creating a habit of meditating in your everyday life. In addition, by experience, you will gain good tips for learning healthy habits that foster well-being.
We will follow in the footsteps that Kukai (Kobo-Daishi) used for his training. “Kukai” is the name of Kobo-Daishi. “Kukai” means “the human mind is as wide and open as the oceans and skies”. Dr. Barry respects Kukai and looks forward to following Kukai’s journey with you through this program. Next year is the anniversary of Kukai’s birth (1250 years have passed after Kukai was born). We will learn from Dr. Barry’s lectures at a great time. We will learn to have access to our subtle mind through “The Shikoku – Inner Pilgrimage: Marriage with our Subtle Mind” with Dr. Barry Kerzin.
Dr. Barry and the staff look forward to seeing you in Shikoku in November!
Messages for “The Shikoku – Inner Pilgrimage” from Dr. Barry Kerzin
“We are planning our next sacred pilgrimage in Shikoku in November 2022. People have consistently come away from these pilgrimages we’ve organized in the past enriched and happy. Our pilgrimage in beautiful Shikoku will provide the setting for our inner pilgrimage. We shall sometimes be in silence, meditate, walk, laugh, and continually unite our minds and hearts with the surrounding beautiful nature. In this way, we shall become one with nature, our inner and outer worlds, for several days. So please join us and become free and happy for several days.”
