Our tricky ego constantly gets us in to trouble

Our tricky ego constantly gets us in to trouble. It flames the fires of our attachment and pushing away. It strengthens our self-grasping and self-cherishing. All these move us in the opposite direction of the reality of emptiness and compassion. One powerful method to reduce this stranglehold of the tricky ego moving us away from reality is to train in reducing our reactions to the eight world attitudes. We train in reducing our attachment to fame, praise, wealth, and pleasure. At the same time, we train in reducing pushing away bad reputation, blame, poverty, and pain. Reducing our reactions to these eight worldly attitudes brings us closer to reality, eliminating the tricky ego leaving us with a merely nominal or designated ego, filled with unconditional love and compassion.
