time with practice, we redirect our focus from “me” to “we”. This attitudinal shift from selfishness to selflessness and compassion becomes a tidal change in our approach to others.Even more important than the warmth and affection we receive, is the warmth and affection we give. It is by giving warmth and affection, by having a genuine sense of concern for others, in other words through compassion, that we gain the conditions for genuine happiness.

Nov 12 – 15 Thur – Sun Mt. Fuji

Meditation 4 day Retreat, Mt. Fuji Lakes with Dr. Barry Kerzin
“The Heart of Education: Compassion, Care & Ethics”

life means making the internal personal commitment to recognize and work on reducing destructive emotions. This is called the practice of emotional hygiene.

What is emotional hygiene?

There is no mystery here. The more we come out of our ego “shell,” the more we orient of life towards concern for others. Love and compassion opens our heart and makes us feel well. Feeling well allows us to cultivate healthy self-confidence. No one is put down – not us nor others.

Over time with practice, we redirect our focus from “me” to “we”. This attitudinal shift from selfishness to selflessness and compassion becomes a tidal change in our approach to others.

We will practice meditation with a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji to clear the mind!

Beyond Empathy: Road to Happiness

Many of our cherished institutions like medicine and education are being challenged by professional burnout. Doctors, teachers, and others are being asked to do more administrate work that seems to never end. This takes them away from their passion — working with people. Unfortunately stress in these professions is on the rise. It sometimes leads to social withdrawal, depression, alcohol and drugs, and relationship problems. How we support our cherished doctors and teachers? Learning to go beyond empathy to compassion brings calmness and meaning in the life. These buffer stress to reduce burnout and depression.
