Guilt erodes everything good. It erodes our confidence. It erodes our compassion especially for ourself. It also erodes our sense of wellbeing. So how can we reduce our guilt? The first thing is to recognize it. Then we can tell ourself, “I don’t need you anymore.” Reflect on the deficits of guilt – how it not only harms you but also those around you. Show it the “back door.” Imagine it embodied as a cloud drifting across the sky and totally dissolving.
