Humility is an important ingredient to a healthy and happy life. Humility at core recognizes that there are 7 nearly 8 billion people and countless animals who also feel they are number one. This breaks our narcissistic habit of selfishness. Unfortunately there is a tendency in the modern world to interpret this at “I am no good.” This is not humility, rather putting oneself down. So humility is finding the balance, putting no one down; no myself nor others. Compassion is the key. The more we focus on concern for others, the more we feel whole and fulfilled. This buffers the tendency to put our self down. Having concern for others also buffers the tendency to put others down. So we’ve found another win-win situation. Go for it!
