Everyone has a kernel of goodness within – everyone, even the meanest people. We are products of our environment. Harsh environments produce harsh responses. We distinguish between the person and the actions. Thus respect and compassion for everyone is important. This does not mean we have to agree, or even be passive. We can resist and we must resist when there is harm, while maintaining respect for the person, the potential goodness inside of the person.
