When we feel good, everything shines. When we feel down, everything is flat. Everything seems difficult. How can we navigate a more peaceful and smooth daily life? It is important to remember again and again that these feelings and thoughts that are like old broken records are just thoughts and feelings, nothing more. They have no reality of their own. They are simply ingrained habits and ripening karma from our past actions. They are not real. They are in fact like ghosts from the past, without any substance. Like whiffs of smoke, ephemeral. Reflecting this way again and again will give us breathing room so that harmful thoughts and feelings will not overwhelm us. We can distance ourselves from these as they are not me! We have space to breath and maneuver. Things as well as our being become softer and smoother regardless of the content. Happy Indian Independence Day.
