The Avalokiteshwara empowerment in Yokohama

Yesterday His Holiness the Dalai Lama gave the Avalokiteshwara empowerment here in Yokohama, Japan, outside of Tokyo. It was a special one, from the 25 Visionary Texts of His Holiness the Fifth Dalai Lama. It is a collection of the Fifth Dalai Lama’s visions and experiences. This empowerment of Wotisangpo Avalokiteshwara was from the 25 Visionary Texts. It’s statue was brought to Dharamsala by monks from Zongkha Choede monastery, and now resides in HH’s residence. It’s face, according to stories, changes expression. His Holiness confirmed this, saying at times the face is serious, while at other times the face smiles, especially after HH does Bodhicitta prayers. When receiving the Wotisangpo Avalokiteshwara empowerment, the 5th Dalai Lama had a vision of King Tsongtsen Gompo coming out of the heart of the Wotisangpo Avalokiteshwara statue, taking him (5th Dalai Lama) by the hand and leading him into the mandala. This was a very special day for all 5,000 of us gathered to receive this special empowerment from the most precious one, His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama.
