Three days ago, we completed a 2-day meditation retreat in Tokyo, meditating on compassion, wisdom, non-distraction, awareness, and walking. The subtle lasting bliss that slowly develops with regular practice is nourishing, feeling that everything is just fine. The doctor said, “give ‘em jug band music, and everything will be just fine.” Money cannot buy this inner peace and joy. It is better than winning the lottery. The excitement of winning the lottery is over soon. The tax-man comes; false friends come. Worry about losing the money comes. Sleepless nights worrying about how to spend the money come. Inner peace and joy are much better. So, practice, practice, and practice.
