What is real and what is not real? That is the question. Is my ego that generates anger, jealousy, and pride real? Or is it mistaken? That is the question. If it is real, we are in big trouble. Then there is no way out of pain and misery. Our suffering would be endless. But the Buddha taught different. He taught there is a way out. The way out comes from recognizing that things are not as they appear. There is a deeper reality that frees us from our ego, and thus from anger, jealousy, and pride. This deeper reality is bathed in love, unconditional love. Because of love and compassion, we free not only ourself, but all others, since we are all the same in wanting happiness and not pain.
