When we encounter difficult people, rather than reacting, take a breath and remember they are your precious teacher. Your teacher of patience. Your teacher of tolerance. Your teacher of love and compassion. Training ourselves to react to each and every situation with calmness, thoughtfulness, and kindness is our goal. It makes life meaningful and joyful. Relating to people whom you like or love is easy. It doesn’t take much effort. Relating to difficult people is a challenge. It requires effort to be kind and understanding. The rewards for the other person are often wonderful. The rewards for ourselves eventually will be enlightenment!
