Forgiving and letting go of built up hurts is crucial for our own happiness. It is not easy. We start with the small ones. We remember this does not mean the other person was right or wrong. Forgiving this way is free from blame and judgment. It is just a practical way to lessen our burdensome load of hurts, to allow us to fly again, and cultivate compassion. Forgiving is an activity we usually do alone without involving the other person. Recognizing we all make mistakes and we all have pain, forgiveness becomes a little easier. In this way we forgive the person, but not necessarily the action.
