Particularly in the present chaotic crazy current political environment it is easy to become disillusioned. This is true in the US, in Hong Kong, now in India, and elsewhere throughout the world. We feel powerless seeing oppression of dissent, melting of the glaciers, and burning of the earth. Big business and governments beholden to them maintain the status quo. Yet we are losing the battle for own very survival, or at least for civil society, where most can live comfortable and safe. In 60 to 80 years scientists are predicting most of the land on earth will turn into desert nearly uninhabitable, if the status quo burning oil, gas, and coal for energy persists. Big corporations continue to be motivated solely by profit. This motivation is often pure and simple greed. The more they make for their stakeholders, the more they want. It is a very dangerous spiraling down vicious cycle, like playing Russian roulette with a loaded gun. Each and every one of us must stand up today against such practices. Be bold. Be courageous. Be strong. Fight nonviolently for our children’s sake.
