Fear and panic due to the coronavirus pandemic only compounds the problem. It doesn’t help. Vigilance is required. Frequent hand washing is very important. Social distancing from 3 to 6 feet is also important. If your area is harder hit, or you get sick, you may be asked to self-quarantine. Only going out for the essentials like food, medicines, etc. But most important is to stay calm. Not only does this make us feel better, but it also gives us a broader perspective and clarity on the situation. This helps us make better decisions. Shantideva in his 6th chapter tells us regardless of whether we can do something or not about a challenging situation, in either case fear, anxiety, and worry only makes things worse. Be strong. Be courageous. Be compassionate. Send healing energy to all those who are sick and the families and loved ones of those who have died. We will get through this. No sitting president during a recession has been re-elected.
