There is a movement afoot. It is a nonviolence movement recognizing black peoples’ innate rights to freedom, equality, and justice, just like anybody else. But it is deeper than that. It is genuine respect and unconditional love. We are all sisters and brothers, part of the same human family. We are all the same in wanting happiness and avoiding harm. We are similar to animals in this respect. These deep interconnections bring us together. They transcend national boundaries, culture, race, religion, gender, and language. This is a critical time for unity, not division.
