Broadening our perspective regarding compassion

Broadening our perspective regarding compassion means to see the big picture. Think outside the box. We are nearly 8 billion people, along with countless animals, birds, fish, insects, living together on this planet. We are all interconnected, in ways seen and unseen. I want to be happy. She wants to be happy. The hummingbird wants to be happy. The mother Orca whale who swam 1,000 kilometers grieving with her dead calf, just wants to be happy. She was recently spotted off the Washington coast with a new baby swimming alongside. The baby Orca wants to be happy. When we are happy, others tend to be happy. Discarding the narrow focus of ‘this body,’ and expanding our perspective to include the bodies, hearts, and minds of all living beings, cultivates great compassion. This is based on the fact that we all want to be happy, and the fact we are all interconnected. Living like this, we soar like the great garuda.
