When we seem to become excited and intense

Many of us, including myself, tend to become excited and intense, leading to speediness. For a while it flows, but then we crash. Yet the internal speed continues, creating more distraction, and less focus. We lose the inner peace and balance. We lose the feeling of one taste. We become wrapped up in our own stuff and forget others. Speed kills. Avoid it. Try constantly to balance alertness and relaxation, in whatever you do. Certainly, do this in meditation, but also in all aspects of life. This balance keeps us attentive, and guards against too much excitement and speed, while also guarding against dullness. It is the diving board springing us into the present moment. Pure naked presence.
