If you look carefully you’ll always find a glimmer of hope even in the darkest cloud. Whatever comes down will go up. When things are desperate, they can get worse, but more likely they will get better. The flip side, whatever goes up will come down. These are natural laws of change, or impermanence. They prompt us to adopt hope wrapped in a more realistic attitude towards life. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. This infuses realism with optimism. It prepares us for whatever comes next. This is particularly important during uncertain times.
